A Tale of a Tiny Grass flower

A tiny grass flower often goes unnoticed. No one picks this flower and places it in a beloved’s hair. Numerous footsteps tread upon it in its fate. Everyone who is alive goes through a life cycle on this earth. No one is an exception. Whether it is the vast blue whale of the Pacific Ocean or some neglected and uncared for wild plant growing by the roadside, everyone must take their place in the line of life assigned to them. That tiny grass flower, which I happened to meet suddenly one day, is also a wayfarer of that line.

The grass flowers are so small that if one does not pause to focus their eyes for a moment, it is impossible to perceive their shape. Even though humans cannot see them clearly, bees can recognize them easily and have to hover around the flowers. All kinds of flowers are observed by bees. I believe that all flowers, no matter what size they are, provide some amount of nectar. Otherwise, bees would not search for flowers in this way.

When I walk, I see how the grasses are driven by the whirl of the life cycle changing over time. Their flowers, in white, yellow, and purple of so many different shades, smile towards the sun, swaying with the wind. They produce seeds in due course for the future of their lineage. Occasionally, I capture a few pictures of them with my mobile camera, hoping that perhaps on some idle day in the future, these pictures will take me back to a place in the recent past where I once experienced a deep bond of harmony with the grass.

One day, while walking in the world of grass, I discovered in a tiny space between two tiles a small yellow grass flower, like a cucumber, tomato, or a piece of lettuce leaf in a sandwich, standing in that very narrow, minute space between the tiles, blooming, showing me proudly that it too is moving along in a successful life cycle in this world, like the flow of a river. I stared at it in astonishment for a long time, amazed by it.

Looking at the grass flower, it seemed as if it was laughing in victory over life's struggles, rejoicing entirely in its own happiness, just as fireflies illuminate their bodies entirely in their own exuberance. Even though it was born in the narrow space between two tiles, it did not sulk or withdraw itself; instead, it participated in the song of life, facing life's struggles with self-love and understanding the value of its own life. Therefore, even amidst all the noise of the outside world, it has blossomed with whatever light and airit has received.

The yellow flower was simply smiling. And it had every reason to smile. Despite being hidden from many eyes, it moved forward, carrying in its heart the hope of floating in the unstoppable currents of a restless world. The little dust and the touch of rainwater it had experienced nourished and enriched it, so that one day it too could bloom into a flower. Under the white sun of the vast blue sky, it also affirms its presence, able to dedicate itself to the celebration of joy in the world.

Seeing the grass flower inspires me greatly. On the uneven path of life's ups and downs, we sometimes have to face disappointment. When reconciling life's challenges becomes extremely difficult, this grass flower helps us dream of a vast ocean of hope. In fact, as long as there is breath in the body, we must keep the light of hope burning. The grass flower reminds us of that sky of hope, where although clouds of despair sometimes cover parts of the sky, it is only a temporary state.

When we get lost in the darkness of life, the whole world may seem like a deep place covered with a dark veil, yet this small grass flower reminds us that alongside darkness, there is light; we just need to make a little effort to find it. Seeing a cloudy sky and thinking the sky is black will only fill us with gloom; we need to search to see if the rainbow is peeking from behind it. Once we catch a glimpse of the seven-colored rainbow, we must quickly brighten our hearts, just like the grass flower that finds a ray of sunlight, mixes it with water and air, and joins the celebration of life.

I call the grass flower because I think you are hidden, but you are not entirely out of sight. It is I who has seen you, have thrilled with excitement, and above all, have been inspired by gazing at you. You are in a place where no one can trample you. Your position is between the protective armor of two tiles. It seems that butterflies and bees have already met you. May your life be victorious.
