City Of Windsor Proclaimed February 21st as International Mother Language day (IMLD)

Press Release: A new milestone is created by the City of Windsor, which is initiated and patronized by BCAWE. Windsor is the second in the leading position, who declared 21st February as an international mother language day. In 2015 February 21st two Canadian provinces (British Columbia and Manitoba) proclaimed IMLD. Now, this Year City of Windsor and Ottawa have declared IMLD at the same day.  Outside Bangladesh and after UNESCO we are in the second leading position in declaring the IMLD proclamation. Windsorites are eagerly waiting for a colorful moment of celebration on February 21st morning at 9:30 am at the Windsor City Hall. By joining the event we all should be the witness of that historical moment.

His worship Mayor Dr. Drew Dilkens proclaims February 21st “International Mother Language Day” in the City of Windsor and encourages all citizens of the Windsor community for its thoughtful observance. Since the history of the day originates from Bangladesh, and since the day has been annually celebrated by the Bangladeshi people since 1952, the Bangladesh-Canada Association, Windsor-Essex (BCAWE) will organize a Bangladeshi flag hoisting event and a discussion session. Mayor will hoist the flag on Feb 21st morning along with BCAWE executive and other distinguished guests.

The program will start by singing national anthems of both countries and raising the Bangladeshi flag along with the Canadian one at the City Hall squire. Later a detailed colorful celebration program will be held at 400 City Hall Room # 409. City Mayor His Worship Dr. Drew Dilkens, Federal MP Ms. Cheryl Hardcastle, delegate from Bangladesh High Commission and other distinguished guests will address in that meeting.
Both Bangladesh-Canada Association and Windsor City Hall cordially invited all the Windsor residents to come to the event and to make the program successful.
